Meri Smbatyan graduated from Yerevan State University, the department of Psychology (BA, 2005, MA, 2007). 

Since 2021 Meri Smbatyan has started her router training for the Jungian analysts within the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP Router Training). She is having her personal analysis (Germany, Switzerland) and supervision (Switzerland, Canada, Slovenia) with the IAAP Jungian analysts. During her training she takes part in lectures and seminars delivered by the IAAP Jungian analysts. 

From March 2021 until January 2026 she served in the role of co-founder president of the Armenian Association for Analytical Psychology.

She is a member of the International Society for Psychology as a Discipline of Interiority, a professional organization the heart of which rests upon the theoretical work of the Jungian psychoanalyst, Wolfgang Giegerich (Berlin, Germany). 

She has taken part and delivered a talk during the 2025 ISPDI Online Symposium (August 2 & 3), Thinking Psychology, "What is Psychological Thinking? Thinking with Mercurius." and likewise during the 2026 ISPDI Online Symposium (August 1 & 2), Working the Notion, "Thinking the Psychological Earth as Arrival on it at long last".
